Adelaide University Dental Students Society

Established in 1919, the Adelaide University Dental Student’s Society is one of the oldest student societies in Australia. It is sole body in South Australia responsible for representing students enrolled in the undergraduate Oral Health and Dental Surgery degrees as well as the post-graduate students. The AUDSS prides itself in providing a holistic and memorable student experience and has numerous academic and social activities in their yearly calendar.

Some key events and activities we enjoy during the year include:

• Weekly continual professional development talks from specialists and invited guests

• Group and individual learning sessions with small group tutoring from older students

• Events to help fresher’s transition into the university lifestyle: including Fresher’s Basement Party, Fresher’s BBQ and a buddy system

• Social events including a pubcrawl each semester and a basement party, final year farewell basement party, wine tours, the annual bake-off

• The Grand Dental Ball, held mid-year as a celebration involving the majority of the dental school

We are very excited about the future addition of a new teaching hospital in the West End Health Precinct, to be opened in 2017 and providing at least another 30 years of public dental service and teaching facilities. This comes following a successful tender bid and in addition to a state-of-the-art simulation clinic built in 2013. I would encourage all new students to get involved with all the exciting opportunities and events planned for 2016!
