Dentists, students and people around the world celebrated World Oral Health Day on March 20th - an international day to celebrate oral health, raise awareness of oral disease and promote good oral hygiene practices. The student’s and hospital staff enjoyed a sunny afternoon out on the deck and a good old-fashioned Sausage Sizzle.
The Melbourne Dental Students’ Society (MDSS), doing what they do best, fired up the grills and cooked up a storm. Even the tooth fairy took a moment out of her busy schedule to show her support for healthy teeth! As part of our continued outreach efforts, MDSS donated the proceeds from the Sausage Sizzle to the Kokoda Track Foundation’s dental health campaign in Papua New Guinea. This campaign aims to provide toothbrushes and toothpaste to 30 isolated villages along the Kokoda Trail.
Next up we had the annual trivia night, where brains were stretched and friendly inter-level rivalries were rekindled. It was anyone’s game at intermission, but with a few “I-can’t-believe-you-knew-that” moments, victory was ensued to the underdogs. Well done guys!!
