2013
BY KIM NGUYEN
It’s only a few months left until we break for the summer and preparations for our very first Graduation Ball are well underway- there’s nothing more to look forward to than waiting for CSU’s first batch of graduates! With 3rd Years at their halfway mark, celebrations took place atthe Halfway Ball held at Borrodel Vineyard. The students were presented with half of their graduation certificates by the dean – a growing tradition at CSU.
This month we held our 2nd Annual Dent Revue at the local Odeon5 Cinema and within a few weeks our AGM. Our SDA this year was proud to receive the ADAF Wrigley Community Service Grant for the Carevan Foundation delivering the Sun Smiles program to young children in Wodonga,Victoria.
A quick shout out to our SDA execs, without you nothing would get organised! This year Ben Xouris and Jess Zachar have taken over the roles of Pres/Vice-Pres. Peter Bakouris and Sev Kornfield are our new Treasurer and Secretary. And a big Thank You to last years committee, Mike Azer, Meredith Hunt, Kartik Bhagwat and Rhoda Berne! You did a great job guys!
Get ready first years – its going to be an exciting year!

2012
We have reached an exciting time here at CSU Dent – for the first time, we have all five years of students! The lecture theatres are full, the corridors are overflowing and clinic is full to the brim. The countdown begins till we say hello to the first ever batch of CSU dental graduates!

2013 if off to a good start, with preparations already underway for many exciting events this year. Commencement Ball is to be held on the 23rd of March, the date is set for our Mexican themed Bar Night and Roland Bryant Cup is just around the corner. We are already getting prepared Sydney, so watch out! We are determined to hang onto the cup for the fourth year running!
It's been another big year for the ever-growing cohort of dental students that reside at Charles Sturt University in Orange. With the further addition of another 40 students at the beginning of the year, it seemed that the entire campus was being overrun by dark blue scrubs. Next year we reach full capacity but say goodbye to our 5th year students as they embark on a year of placement, spending only a few weeks back in Orange. Already excitement is running high with the thought of our first graduation ceremony being just around the corner.

Throughout the year, the SDA has excelled at providing
a fantastic environment its students. The Roland Bryant
Cup was once again a great success. CSU students
travelled to Sydney for the weekend only to return home
bearing the trophy for the third year in a row. The final
score for the day was 4-1 but the skill and competitiveness
shown by Sydney indicates that we should watch out for
next year!

Other great successes include our Commencement Ball,
the second SDA bar night, themed Cowboys and Indians,
and the first ever Dent Revue. The quality of the videos
made for the night was fantastic and left everyone in stitches. There are already great ideas going around for the next one!

With all the great events that have been organised this year, it will be interesting to see if they can be surpassed in 2013!
